The Art of Nature

The arts have played a critical role in the exploration and now preservation of the West. By bringing the the grandeur and vitality of the West alive, they captured the imagination of millions who might never have seen such marvels. Artists also inspired the first movements towards conservation of the West.

Students will learn the basics of creating a realistic and accurate watercolor painting of a native Wyoming Cutthroat. Day one will begin with fieldwork where students will gain an understanding of how to document specimens in the field in order to be able to accurately depict details of color and form once back in the studio.
